ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Stapleton Elementary School Music

What's Going On In Music!?

Kindergartners, First Graders, and Second Graders are all moving, singing, dancing, and playing! Check out the Curriculum page for more details!

Third Graders are SUPER excited about learning recorder. All the songs they get to learn on the recorder are on this website, on the curriculum page. All they have to do is click on an image of a karate belt, and their song will pop right up! The songs are listed in order from left to right. I would encourage them to identify every note first before they try to play it! They can come in first thing in the morning and play for me to earn a recorder belt, and they will always have this opportunity during music class.

The Fourth Graders are SUPER excited about our new ukuleles! We have 25 brand new ukuleles for our students to use in the classroom. If you are interested in buying one for your child, feel free to reach out to me for some advice! The Fourth Graders are also using all their skills from K-3 to write their own music in Quaver. They're all enjoying working independently on Chromebooks during music. They can log in to Quaver at home on any kind of computer, but not yet on most mobile devices (though the Quaver folks are working on it!). Ask them to show you some of the music they've been creating! If they've forgotten their password and they'd like to log in at home, they can always email me in the "Mr. Walton" page on this site!

The Fifth Graders are just starting to learn how to play their band or orchestra instruments. Encourage practice at home! There's no magical solution, it just takes hard work! This year I am teaching Violin and Cello on Mondays, Trumpets on Tuesdays, and Trombones on Wednesdays. Mr. Galligan is teaching Percussion on Mondays, Saxophones on Tuesdays, and Flutes and Clarinets on Wednesdays. Don't forget your instrument on your music day!

All of the music students at Stapleton do a lot of listening to a wide variety of music. Not everyone likes everything, but everyone likes something. Ask what they've been listening to in music!

3rd grade students - Make sure you bring your recorder on the day you have music class!

4th grade students - Your teachers will help you come to music with Chromebooks! If you forget your Quaver Log-in information, and would like to log in at home, just email me!

5th grade students - Remember what day you have music! You will ALWAYS need your instrument!

"Those who wish to sing,

always find a song."
